Measuring What Others Could Not
How ITS Thailand helped a leading research university unlock particle analysis at the microscale
The right solution is not always the most obvious one. Sometimes it is the one that fits exactly where nothing else does. For the proteomics research team at a leading university in Thailand, finding that fit required more than a product catalogue. It required a team willing to understand the science.
The Challenge
The research team needed to measure two critical parameters from precious biological samples for medical applications: particle size and zeta potential. Their sample volumes were as low as 100 microlitres, far too small for most conventional instruments to handle accurately. Standard laboratory equipment was not built for this level of precision at this scale.
Our Approach
The ITS Thailand team did not approach this as a straightforward equipment sale. They invested time in understanding the research application: the specific biological samples involved, the measurement conditions required, and the constraints the team was working within. From there, they identified a two-instrument pairing that addressed both parameters within the sample volume limitations:
- Microtrac Nanotrac Flex for particle size measurement down to 2 microlitres, enabling precise analysis at volumes the research team could realistically work with.
- Stabino Zeta for streaming zeta potential analysis, allowing the team to track zeta potential trends across varying pH and chemical conditions, all within a single workflow.
The Outcome
The research team gained precise, application-specific measurement capability that had previously been out of reach. With both particle size and zeta potential now measurable within their sample volume constraints, their R&D work could move forward without interruption.
